Available, Restricted, Check Status — What the Labels Mean

The four map colors, the finer notes underneath, and why “Available” is still not a fifty-product all-clear.

Dated snapshot labels. Comparison listing only · methodology

Four colors. Editorial, dated, a little blunt. A six-status rainbow would look more precise than the notes can support.

Available

Regulated retail event contracts appear broadly accessible in the snapshot, still subject to each venue’s screen. California and Texas are the featured examples in this snapshot: CFTC-facing products are commonly discussed as reachable, crypto-settled venues often are not, and sports-branded prediction verticals can still diverge. “Available” is not “every contract on Kalshi, Robinhood, FanDuel Predicts, and DraftKings Predictions.”

Restricted

Many popular venues block or tightly limit residents. Restricted does not mean “no event contract can ever exist.” It means do not start from a yes.

Check status

Access is limited, pending, or product-dependent. Check status is the honest label when a single color would lie.

No data / Uncertain

Reserved if we later withdraw a note. This snapshot labels all fifty states, so the pale color is a spare — not a hidden pile of unlabeled jurisdictions. If we cannot stand behind a sentence, we would rather show uncertainty than a confident wrong green.

No side. We date the snapshot.
